Quite possibly (haven't made my mind up, basically) going the The Bearded Theory Festival, this coming weekend. Only 1,500 capacity and Hawkwind and Dreadzone are playing.
Better check the weather forecast first I think!

Well I went to the second 'official' Bearded Theory Festival last night, I drove through torrential rain, lightning and flooded roads to get there. When I arrived the site was coping well with it seemed most of the 1,500 ticket holders already there.
Rain seemed to be the order of the day, which it did for the first hour I was there (spent in my car). When it eventually stopped I ventured into the arena to find festival stalwart Attila The Stockbroker singing his songs and reading his poetry. He was followed by more rain and then 3 Daft Monkeys a Folk/Rock trio from Cornwall very similar in sound to The Levellers.
The rain continued and I went to check out Dreadzone in the Dance tent until Hawkwind took to the Main Stage at about 10.20 then the heavens opened and the wind whistled around my ears, even my Arctic style waterproofs were beginning to feel inadequate. So unusually for me after 30 minutes I beat a retreat to my car and drove home.
If that was the start to the 2009 festival season, things can only get better. Or am I getting too old for the festival game?

The scene according to Tarantism:
*WELL BEARDED THEORY after some scheduling shennanninigans on fri we were back to our original slot on saturday ,we were just about to drive our van to behind the stage when we witnessed the storm arrive from a vantage point on the top of the hill.As we prepared to move our equipment we heard a loud booming sound and looked down into the valley, we saw a gust of wind about 30ft across rush up the valley, it contained swirling 2man tents and debris of all kinds , it took a large stall tent up and over the portaloos and dropped it in the next field, ripping down the side of several stalls and cafes and hit the top of the pringle shaped stage at exactly the wrong point bombarding it for about just 10 seconds until it ripped out the securing bars and the satge just folded in half bringing the lighting gantry crashing down .Although several people were around the stage at the time thankfully those injured were not seriously hurt. We are just very happy that we were spared by minutes from the path of it.We carried on the night in true festy fashion on ians solar powered p a, under a bit of leaky tarp in the mud with the Tofu Love Frogs, as if the last 10 years hadnt happened!*

Spiral Dive cancelled through no fault of their own so that leaves it up to Tank to save the weekend!
