Mean Fiddler are loosening their grip on Londons music venues, as reported by efestivals http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/070814a.shtml
They have sold several venues onto the Mama Group who already own 7 Barfly venues around the country.
No more Mean Fiddler festivals as they have rebranded themselves as Festival Republic. Still ultimately owned by Live Nation I am guessing.
The cynic in me says...still owned by the same people but re-branded...tax dodge?!! Attempt to distance themselves from hatred or music fans? (In which instance they'll be needing to rebrand again after a few years I suppose!)

Sorry...it's just I feel generally aggrieved that the state of the music industry in this country is down to one or two large companies - with music becoming less and less about supply and demand from the punters, and more about who we're told we should go and see. Don't even get me started on Carling venues...
Luckily there are still a few independent promoters out there who can put a show on, people like 1% Entertainment and Jim Driver of Smarter Music unfortunately for Jim he has yet to make a profit on Rhythm Fest.
As for Carling I have only been to the Hammersmith Apollo and Brixton Academy but I see they have branched out and opened up in Oxford recently.
Carling are everywhere! Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle - all the large venues. Which not only causes me a problem because I don't think it's doing the live music scence any good, but also I don't like Carling! I heard a rumour that they were going to start to allow other beer in the venues but I've seen no evidence of it, and frankly I doubt it!

Nah! Can't see that one happening. With the mark up they put on beer in venues they aren't going to start selling someone elses beer.

Well, I know, but I can live in hope!

I'm a cider drinker so imagine my disappoinment when I enter most London venues and all I can get is bloomin' Magners, then they try to put ice in it to water it down aswell as charging the earth for it!

Yes! Me too! When will people learn that Magners, Bulmers and Strongbow are NOT CIDER - they are chemicals in a bottle! *thinks this might be another rant for room 101*
